It’s common for ministry leaders to struggle with finding a balance between their work and personal life. This is why Eder has partnered with Flourishing in Ministry, a project of Biola University, located in La Mirada in southern California, to offer coaching for ministers.
Approved applicants can receive up to 15 coaching sessions that provide personal assistance to help ministers navigate the challenges they face. Participants can work with a dedicated coach, choose different coaches or even switch coaches if desired. Coaching is completely confidential, and each 50-minute session is scheduled at a time that works best for the participant and their coach, whether it’s via video conference or phone call.
Participants have the option to complete a free, online Flourishing in Ministry Assessment to receive a report that indicates their personal level of flourishing according to the Flourishing in Ministry Wellbeing Model. The assessment also provides recommendations for practices they can engage in to increase their level of well-being.
Supported by Church Workers’ Assistance Plan through the Clergy Well Being Grant, any active clergy member serving a Church of the Brethren congregation can apply for a grant to cover up to $2,500 annually, per household, for this service or another qualifying cognitive well-being service such as professional counseling, case management, or peer support.
The grant cycle runs annually, and applications are accepted year-round. Qualifying individuals include Church of the Brethren active clergy, their spouses, and dependents in the same household.
