Client Services Manager Ed Shannon has a passion for talking to people about their retirement. He’s been doing that with members of Eder Retirement Plan since June 2018 but at the end of this year, he will retire and be missed by many.
Ed has answered countless retirement questions throughout his career, earning a reputation as the go-to person, with many relying on his expertise. He’s known for going above and beyond, conducting the necessary research to guide those nearing retirement through their options, to support others as their plans take shape, and to be available to assist even after they’re well into retirement.
Retirement is a milestone, and Ed has helped members plan for the journey by walking them through various life decisions. Loyce Borgmann, director of client services and his supervisor, said, “He has been willing to do whatever you ask and to help out in whatever way he can. He is always asking “Is there anything I can do? How can I be helpful?”
Lynnae Rodeffer, vice president of products and services, remembers a time when she had to give Ed an assignment that was outside his usual responsibilities. She said, “What I knew was that if Ed was in charge, it was going to run well. I wouldn’t have to worry. He would learn everything he needed to learn. He would ask all the questions that needed to be asked. He would make sure that nothing fell through the cracks. I knew I could just rely on Ed to figure out how to do it, and I knew it was going to be done well.”
"I plan to read, enjoy my grandchildren, take some classes in subjects that interest me, volunteer in hunger relief efforts, travel, and not set an alarm clock most days,” said Shannon. “One big thing I plan to schedule each day is the simple pleasure of a nap.” Ed’s last day at Eder Financial is December 11, 2024.
