Since it was created more than 70 years ago as the Pension Board, this ministry has followed the principle of stewardship identified by Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians

Socially Responsible Investing

Through Eder Retirement Plan and Eder Organizational Investing, Eder Financial enables your investments to promote Brethren values through positive investing and shareholder advocacy.

Workshops

As the financial agency of the Church of the Brethren, we must serve as financial advocates to our members. Our insight sessions are presented by experts in the fields of retirement, banking, investments, planned giving, and health care.

Church Workers’ Assistance Plan

Eder Retirement Plan has a built-in giving component that diverts 1 percent of employer contributions to a needs-based program for current and retired employees of the Church of the Brethren and its affiliated organizations.

Denominational Dialog and Collaboration

Eder Financial regularly partners with its sister agencies — Annual Conference, Bethany Seminary, Church of the Brethren Inc., and On Earth Peace — to ensure that we are serving the needs of our denomination while helping it to grow and prosper.

District Conferences

The annual gatherings hosted by each Church of the Brethren district are great opportunities for Eder Financial staff to meet with members of the denomination. We strive to attend each conference so that your questions can be answered, your concerns can be heard, and your congregations can be celebrated.

As of May 2022, Eder Financial, Inc. became the new name for the former Brethren Benefit Trust, Inc. As part of this rebranding, other names within the organization were changed as well. The former Brethren Foundation Funds, Inc. became Eder Organizational Investing, Inc.; and Brethren Foundation, Inc. became Eder Deferred Gifts, Inc. For a short period, visitors to the Eder Financial website may still find links, forms, and other references with the former names on them.
